Replace Switches on Your EvoFox Mechanical Keyboard
Refresh worn-out switches or personalize your typing feel in a few simple steps. Your EvoFox keyboard includes a keycap/switch puller and extra switches to make this easy.
What You’ll Need
- EvoFox Mechanical Keyboard
- Keycap/Switch Puller (included in the box)
- Replacement Switches (included in the box)
Step-by-Step Guide
Power Down
Unplug your keyboard and ensure it’s completely powered off before you begin.
Remove the Keycap
Use the keycap puller to hook onto the keycap of the switch you want to replace. Pull straight up until the keycap pops off.
Remove the Switch
Flip the tool to the switch-puller side. Place it securely onto the switch, squeeze gently, and pull the switch straight up. Avoid tilting to keep the pins safe.
If the switch feels stuck, ensure the tool tabs are seated under the switch clips before lifting.
Insert the New Switch
Check the two metal pins at the bottom of the new switch. Align them carefully with the socket and press straight down until you feel a soft click.
Do not force it. If it doesn’t seat, re-check pin alignment and try again.
Reattach the Keycap
Place the keycap back on top of the switch and press down firmly until it sits snug.
All done! Your key should feel normal again. Reconnect the keyboard and test the key in your favorite app.
Troubleshooting
Switch won’t go in
Check that both metal pins are straight and aligned with the socket. If a pin is bent, gently straighten it with tweezers and try again.
Key not registering after replacement
Remove and reseat the switch, ensuring the pins are fully inserted. Then reconnect the keyboard and test again. You can also try a different switch to rule out a faulty unit.
Switch feels loose
Press down firmly until you feel a soft click. If it still feels loose, remove and reinsert the switch to ensure the clips are engaged.
Keycap is crooked
Pull the keycap off and press it back on evenly from the top, making sure it sits centered on the stem.
